BUCKINGHAMSHIRE COUNCIL - SURVEY FOR BUDGET CONSULTATIONS  2021/22  -  DEADLINE IS SUNDAY 8 NOVEMBER 2020

Buckinghamshire Council is currently consulting on budget priorities for 2021/22. We would like as many residents, businesses and organisations to take part in the consultation to inform decisions on how next year’s budget is allocated.

The survey is online: https://yourvoicebucks.citizenspace.com/corporate-services/budget-2021-22/ and will remain open until Sunday 8 November.

The council faces extra pressure on finances this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The combined effect of increased costs in some areas (social care etc) together with a loss of income from regular income streams (parking, business rate etc) means we face a £7m shortfall in our budget.

Combining to become one unitary authority in April will bring about future savings but in the meantime we face rising pressures on many of our services including adults and children’s social care. Whilst protecting our most vulnerable residents and communities is a top priority, we must remember we have four key corporate priorities:

  • Strengthening our communities
  • Improving our environment
  • Increasing prosperity
  • Protecting the vulnerable

In next year’s budget we are proposing to spend:

·       £29.5m on roads and transport,

·       £3.8m on housing

·       Nearly £3m on improving our town centres

·       £22.7m on waste and recycling

·       £1.4m on street cleaning

·       Nearly £700k on parks and open/green spaces

We want to find out people’s views on these proposals and to give them the opportunity to say where we should be spending and where we could be saving.

The survey has five simple questions and takes just minutes to complete but the bigger the response we get, the better we are able to listen and act upon what our communities want.  We would appreciate your participation, thank you!
